Inside The Studio

Ever since I started reading The Selby's photoblog I wandered what HIS house would look like. Now Style.com has done a short video going into his studio. It may not be his house but it is just as good!
It is def. a good interview, his studio is messy and an amazing creative space, filled with those little things he likes to look for in other people's houses!

Oh Todd, you do not look wanky at all!

Nostalgia

Yesterday I went to see A Single Man. I had been waiting to see it forever but due to a series of events it never seemed to work out; but yesterday it did.

The truth is I'm still in the A-Single-Man-Cloud, and I know it seems like I'm exaggerating, but the film is fantastic. Every single detail has been taken care off, the fact that the camera does not produce a digital and sharp image but has instead a bit of grain, like the old 35mm cameras, sets a scene and an ambiance that transports you back to that precise moment. The camera work is brilliant, the angles and shots are really interesting and combined with Tom Ford's aesthetics, the film never seems to be slow, even when nothing is happening you feel like there are so many things to admire that you don’t even notice the lack of action. The slight hints of humor are enough to stop the movie from falling into a dark, depressive spiral yet maintain the sober tone of the movie. The way in which the sounds are overlapped make you more aware of all the images you are seeing. Tom Ford’s love of the beautiful is shown in every bit of the movie, from the aesthetics of the props and the wardrobe to the close ups and post production. And, to put the cherry on perfection, Jon Kortajarena has a small part in it, and we all know how I feel about Jon…

I want her hair

Everything screams Tom Ford. I want a Tom Ford production stamp on my life.

By now everyone knows I've always wanted to be hippie, a groupie, to live the 60s and 70s to their finest and the movie only emphasized it more. The hair, the make up, the clothes, the furniture, the cars, the manners, the words, groovy, the colours, the music, the noise, the air...

How can I feel nostalgic for a time I’ve never lived?

A McQ

Once again you managed to shock us. Once again we were all breathless after the decisions you took. I just wish this time they'd been fashion decisions.
You came in with a Bang and there's no other way you could have left. I doubt there's anything I can say that hasn't already been said over and over again. You're a genious and you'll be missed.

17 March 1969 - 11 February 2010

Hope fashion heaven is treating you well.

Maison Michel

Maison Michel is a French firm that creates hats and hair accesories. Since 1936, when Monsieur Auguste Michel created his first atelier at 65 Rue Sainte Anne in Paris, socialites, celebrities and mere fashion lovers have gone bananas for their designs. In 1980 Maison Michel, under the artistic direction of Pierre Debard, started to create the hats for the prêt-à-porter and haute couture collections of major fashion firms such as Chanel, Givenchy, Lanvin, Lacroix or Nina Ricci.
By 1996 Chanel takes over Maison Michel and in 2006 the first Maison Michel store opens to the public allowing a wider audience to buy there, rather than just the exclusive elite of private customers it used to have.

You probably recognise the photos of the A/W 2009 collection which was shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Here are some examples:

Laetitia Crahay

Caroline Gauthier

Rebecca Dayan

Sasha Pivovarova

As for the new collection, it is, of course, beautiful:

And here some examples of how to wear the pieces in REAL life:

All info in their website

Now we can even buy certain pieces in Net-a-porter, like this one from the A/W 2009 collection, which is worth 1660€

Chanel

I always think it's funny to look back to what ads used to be in the 80's and 90's. Let's take Chanel as an example:

Chanel-Egoïste 1990

Chanel- No.5 2009

Ok, I know you are going to say that the ads can't be compared because one is for a perfume for men and the other is for women, and it's not any other perfume, it's Chanel no.5. However, what I want to say is, Chanel has become (if possible) even classier. Words are no longer needed to convey a feeling; technology now allows us to be able to put a yellow-ish filter to make it seem warmer, a bluer one to show desperation and anxiety and finish with a red one to portray L-O-V-E.

Genious.

Iceland '09

I went to Iceland back in October, so yes, this is a bit late. Anyway, if you haven't been there yet I truly recomend that you go, it is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to! Not only for the landscapes but also for the people.
Brynja, was the best guide, night and day! Thanks sooo much!
Here are a few shots and a video. (the quality of the video is not the best, sorry but it's youtube's fault, it is perfectly fine in my laptop!)

be sure to visit Kron Kron when you're there for some quality Icelandic fashion. It's a must!
